400;\"> There is less energy.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Simple tasks require more effort.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And there is a difficult-to-explain feeling, as though the body is constantly under strain.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Many people only recognise burnout when they are already deeply exhausted.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> But in reality, the body begins sending signals much earlier.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It keeps accumulating tension, adapting, compensating&#8230;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Until it can no longer maintain the same pace.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Burnout does not happen overnight.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is a process.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Burnout can show up in different ways, but it often includes:<\/b><b><br \/>\n<\/b><span switching off mentally<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 a constant sense of effort<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 reduced emotional energy or motivation<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you recognise several of these signs, it may indicate burnout, even if you are still functioning in daily life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Why do I feel exhausted even though I am still functioning?<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is one of the most common questions:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIf I am still working, responding, and meeting my responsibilities, how can I be experiencing burnout?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Because burnout does not mean that you stop functioning.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It means functioning under continuous strain.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The nervous system can maintain performance&#8230;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> but at the cost of internal energy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over time:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 recovery decreases<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Burnout is not weakness.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the nervous system\u2019s response to a prolonged state of demand.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The body is designed to cope with stress,<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> but it also needs cycles of recovery.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When this does not happen:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 the nervous system remains in a state of everyone.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are different patterns, and not all of them are easy to recognise.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h3><b>Overload burnout<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The most widely recognised type.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It develops when there is:<\/span><span 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 everything appears to be under control<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Inside:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 constant fatigue<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 emotional disconnection<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 difficulty relaxing<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 a constant need to be productive<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The person does not stop&#8230; because they are still able to keep going.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But their system is already under strain.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h3><b>Burnout caused by lack of motivation<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Less often discussed, but very common.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It develops when:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 there is a lack of meaning<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 there is monotony<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 there is a sense of disconnection from work<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Signs:<\/b><b><br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 apathy<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 lack of mental energy<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 difficulty concentrating<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 a sense of emptiness<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is not caused by excess.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is caused by a lack of engagement.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h3><b>Emotional burnout<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Related to prolonged emotional strain.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Common in people who:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 care for others<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 carry a high level of emotional responsibility<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 find it difficult to set boundaries<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Signs:<\/b><b><br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 emotional exhaustion<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 irritability or emotional withdrawal<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 feeling that you have nothing more to give<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h3><b>People-pleasing burnout (taking excessive responsibility for others)<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the most common patterns, and one of the least recognised.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It develops when a person:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 constantly puts other people\u2019s needs before their own<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 finds it difficult to say \u201cno\u201d<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 feels responsible for other people\u2019s emotional well-being<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the outside:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 available<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 responsible<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 \u201cthe person everyone relies on\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Inside:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 exhaustion<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 invisible overload<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 guilt when trying to stop<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 a feeling of never being enough<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This type of burnout does not come only from what you do.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It comes from what you feel you have to carry.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is often connected to old patterns of adaptation,<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> where being \u201cgood\u201d, \u201cuseful\u201d, or \u201cneeded\u201d was a way of maintaining connection or safety.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h3><b>Burnout in women and mothers (invisible and ongoing load)<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This pattern is not about a lack of capability.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is about constant accumulation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It often develops in women who:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 manage work, home, and family<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 carry the emotional responsibility for the environment around them<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 rarely experience genuine mental rest<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Even when they stop&#8230;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the mind remains active.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Common signs:<\/b><b><br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 constant fatigue, even after rest<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 difficulty switching off mentally<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 a feeling of always being \u201con alert\u201d<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 irritability or guilt about needing time for themselves<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is often an invisible load:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 anticipating needs<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 organising everything<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 making sure everything works<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And this keeps the nervous system in a continuous state of activation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is not only what you do.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is the fact that you can never fully switch off.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1><\/h1>\n<h2><b>When burnout begins to show up in the body<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Before it is recognised mentally, burnout is already present in the body.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It may show up as:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 persistent fatigue<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 muscle tension<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 headaches<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 changes in sleep<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 digestive discomfort<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 a feeling of physical heaviness<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The body is not failing.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is signalling prolonged strain.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As various somatic approaches show, the body holds and expresses states of stress even before we can explain them rationally.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><b>Can burnout go away on its own?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In some cases, it may improve with rest.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But when the nervous system is already dysregulated:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 rest may not be enough<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 recovery does not happen consistently<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 the body maintains patterns of activation<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In these cases, it is not simply about stopping.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is about helping the system return to states of regulation.<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><\/h1>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Two common patterns that are rarely discussed<\/span><\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h3><b>Situational burnout<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Linked to a specific phase:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 demanding projects<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 periods of change<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 intense periods<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The system becomes activated&#8230;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> but is able to recover.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h3><b>Burnout that becomes established<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It begins during a particular phase&#8230; but does not switch off.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The body becomes accustomed to the strain.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rest is no longer enough.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Even during a break, there is:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 fatigue<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 restlessness<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 difficulty recovering<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span
