: extending or going beyond the personal or individual (Webster dictionary)
First, I would like to talk a bit about my training and studies, as I get asked about this a lot. I took my main courses at Transpersonal International™ in an ISCTE university campus auditorium, in Lisbon, Portugal. I am certified and accredited by them in Clinical, Transpersonal and Regressive Hypnosis ©.
“Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes”. – Carl Jung.
My reason for choosing them was because, just like you are doing now, I did some research and I could see the approach was different, and this difference was important to me.
It is about the connection with the whole person: mind-body-spirit. To me, it makes perfect sense to not separate the 3 as it is usually done, and to be able to speak freely about a spiritual and emotional side that is connected to our mind and body.
I went on, and studied with Transpersonal International for a total of 2 yrs initially, and since then, still counting. The more I discover, the more I want to learn and quickly realized that learning, for me, will never end.
– Ancient Greek philosopher Socrates once said –
“True wisdom comes to each of us when we realize how little we understand about life, ourselves, and the world around us.”
Introductions to the Transpersonal concept, Transpersonal Therapy and Transpersonal Hypnosis
– If we know what to do to achieve something, and we don’t achieve it is because we have conditioning that hinders, that comes from the past.
Which aspects are proper of the Transpersonal?
The transpersonal is:
– Bridging between science and spirituality;
– Synthesis between modern science and ancient wisdom, which implies a bridge between East and West without forgetting the margins in between;
– Synthesis and meeting between opposites;
– Trying to focus on the “whole” without limits, without hiding responsibility for the personal self
*note: Spirituality and religion are not the same thing.
In transpersonal therapy, as its name indicates, we try to put you in touch with who you really are, that is, the deep identity which is far beyond all the characters you play in your daily life;
– Remember: The term transpersonal has to do with what is beyond the person.
The transpersonal therapist accompanies you on a journey that aims to reach the edges of your deepest self. (A process similar to the already known guided meditations, but they are personalized, for you as the individual you are, with path and object)
– In this process, the term therapist is synonymous with companion.
In Transpersonal Therapy, the true healer is you, your higher self, your consciousness, since being fully conscious of something means you can automatically transform it, without special added efforts.
-From this perspective, the consultation with a transpersonal therapist can be considered an observatory of one’s own intimacy.
Techniques and methods are used so that you seek by yourself, or with the help of the therapist, the solution to different problems.
-From this perspective: the guru is you, observing yourself.
Hypnosis is a tool that promotes an immersion in our inner universe, with the objective of carrying out a process of self-knowledge and subsequent self-transformation.
Through these processes, you become:-
– aware of your needs,
– reach a better understanding of your individual internal functioning mechanisms
– and better understand the dynamics of your emotions,
This promotes the discovery of the best way to solve your inner conflicts and develop internal resources capable of dealing with situations, which translates into a process of true self-healing.
Hypnosis is a safe and highly effective therapeutic procedure that allows results to be felt very quickly.
Hypnosis is very natural for the body as we enter this state many times a day and especially as we fall asleep at night and as we wake up in the morning.
Once the pain and restlessness that motivated the initiation of therapy are relieved. And once new mental patterns that build a happier ego are learned, Transpersonal Hypnotherapy, based on Transpersonal Psychology, deals with aspects such as:
– The search for the meaning of life / life path
– The exercise of creativity
– The mastery of intuition
– The inner experience of certainty;
– The vision of what we really are;
– The capacity to love without an object, as a state of consciousness of the individual themselves;
– The “detachment” or the ability of distancing oneself from the ego and observing it;
– The feeling or sense of transcendence;
– The ability to serve and love all sensitive beings;
Transpersonal therapy is a way to convert restlessness and crisis into an opportunity of the profound.
There comes a time when our mind or your body says “stop, you have to change”, “you have to change something, this behavior is not healthy for you”. And we go on… we go on… and then we begin to somatize.
And if we don’t pay attention to the signs/symptoms and if we don’t look inside and see what we have to change, one day it can all go off.
Imagine, how your car turns on lights to let you know that something needs your attention …and you ignore it…
With our mind the process is similar, if you don’t change anything when your body or mind sends you signals…the mind cuts off one more little thing …to see if you understand.
So, when your doctor, and with all their care and wisdom they tell you that you need to manage your stress, change your diet, or change this or that, and you know they are right, but yet cannot make the internal movement to do it, it is because something “unseen” might be holding you back.
It is our responsibility to find the best way possible to make our stay in this life the best we can. To reach out to find the right help for us, and the right path. Believe me, you hold more answers and wisdom inside yourself than you have cared to know about.
If you are searching for a sense of peace, clarity and inner confidence, open that door to inner healing.
Connect more deeply with yourself and the world around you.

Hypnosis – Beyond the Media Portrayal
There are many, many more medical articles referring to hypnosis in the management, alleviating and relief of many issues people are facing today.
We as therapists do not intend to compete with medical professionals, as there is no competition possible. Medicine has its very obvious usefulness. But we can work side by side, as professionals, in an approach that is more inclusive to wellness as a whole.
