What Is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a safe and well-established therapeutic approach that has been used for many decades and is backed by solid scientific evidence; it allows access to the subconscious mind and facilitates profound emotional change.

Through natural states of inner focus and relaxation, it becomes possible to address internal patterns that, in everyday life, remain beyond the reach of the conscious mind.

What distinguishes my work is the integration of hypnotherapy with up-to-date knowledge of the nervous system, trauma, somatic awareness, and emotional development. This integrative approach allows deep-seated blocks—such as anxiety, stress, insecurity, childhood trauma, or recurring patterns—to be transformed in a safe, consistent, and profound way.

Whether the issue involves limiting habits, anxiety, burnout, lack of confidence, or long-held emotional wounds, hypnotherapy supports the reconnection with parts of you that need attention and healing, including your inner child.

This process leads to greater self-awareness, self-regulation, and emotional balance.

True transformation occurs when the body is no longer locked in a state of constant alert.

Hypnotherapy creates an internal sense of safety—essential for the nervous system to slow down, the mind to clear, and for one to access inner resources, integrate experiences, and foster profound changes in a natural and restorative way.

Many emotional responses don’t start solely with thoughts.
They are linked to automatic patterns that have been imprinted on the nervous system and the unconscious mind over the course of a lifetime.

When these patterns remain active for too long, the body can remain in a constant state of alert—manifesting as anxiety, tension, or difficulty relaxing.

What Are the Benefits of Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic approach that has been recognized and supported by decades of scientific research.

It allows you to work directly with unconscious emotional patterns and regulate the nervous system, promoting profound and lasting changes.

Why Does It Work?

Hypnotherapy creates internal conditions of safety that allow the nervous system to slow down, reorganize experiences, and integrate emotions in a natural way.

When the body is no longer in a state of constant alert, it becomes much easier to shift thoughts, behaviors, and automatic responses.

Most Common Benefits:

  • Reduction of anxiety and stress
  • Improved emotional regulation
  • Increased self-confidence
  • Release of old patterns and limiting beliefs
  • Greater mental clarity and inner well-being
  • Recovery of blocked inner resources
  • Improved relationship with the body and with emotions

How the nervous system, the body, and the unconscious are connected

Many emotional responses don’t start solely with thoughts.

They are linked to automatic patterns that have been ingrained in the nervous system and the unconscious mind over the course of a lifetime.

The nervous system regulates states such as alertness, safety, stress, and rest.

Most of these responses happen automatically—even before a conscious thought arises.

For example, the heart may start racing, the body may tense up, or breathing may change without the person immediately understanding why.

The body is often the first to show these internal responses.

That’s why many people say:

“I know everything’s fine… but my body doesn’t believe it.”

What we call the unconscious includes emotional memories, learned associations, and automatic responses that have developed over the course of a lifetime.

Once a pattern is established, the nervous system begins to react automatically—and the body manifests that response.

Research in neuroscience and psychology shows that many of these responses are regulated by structures such as the amygdala and the autonomic nervous system, which are responsible for detecting danger and triggering states of alertness even before conscious thought occurs.

Studies in the field of clinical hypnosis show that states of internal focus—such as those used in hypnotherapy—are associated with changes in brain activity, facilitating access to memories, emotions, and automatic patterns in a more direct and integrative way.

It is in this state that it becomes possible to work safely with the unconscious, helping the nervous system to reorganize its responses and regain greater emotional balance.

Hypnotherapy allows us to work directly with these deeper processes, helping the nervous system to restore a sense of safety, balance, and inner flexibility.

Results Vary from Person to Person…

Each process is unique. The depth of change depends on emotional history, the state of the nervous system, and the person’s level of engagement in the process—but modern research shows that hypnotherapy is a solid, effective, and safe approach for those seeking deep and lasting change.

Is hypnotherapy safe?

Yes—when performed by a qualified professional.

In hypnotherapy:
– you don’t lose control
– you don’t lose consciousness
– you aren’t manipulated
– you aren’t forced to do anything

The process is collaborative and always respects your pace.

The state of hypnosis is natural for the body

Although the term “trance” may sound strange,
the state used in hypnotherapy is, in fact, a natural state of the nervous system.

We find ourselves in this kind of state several times a day—without even realizing it.

It is a state in which:
– your body is relaxed
– your mind slows down
– but you remain conscious and able to respond

Everyday examples (to demystify)

For example:

When you wake up…
there’s a moment when you’re no longer asleep,
but you’re not quite “awake” yet.

You feel your body, the light, and the atmosphere.
If someone speaks to you, you can respond—
but you haven’t quite got into the swing of the day yet.

As you fall asleep…
Your body naturally begins to slow down.
Your thoughts quiet down (or try to quiet down).

Another common example:
when you’re driving and reach your destination almost on autopilot,
or when you’re so focused on a task that everything else fades into the background.

These are natural states of internal focus—the same type of state used in hypnotherapy.

What happens in hypnotherapy

In hypnotherapy, we use this same state—
in a deliberate and guided way.

The difference is that:
– there is a sense of security
– there is a therapeutic direction
– there is a clear goal

It is not a state of losing control.
It is a state of inner access characterized by greater presence and less noise.

How Do Hypnotherapy Sessions Work?

Sessions can be held online or in person at the Imagine Heal space, located in São Domingos de Rana, just five minutes from the A5 and the Marginal road.

Each session lasts approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, allowing for deep, safe, and truly transformative work.

If you choose the online format, you can take part from the comfort of your own space.

For the best experience, ensure a calm environment, use headphones, and minimize interruptions—this helps your nervous system enter a state of focus and safety, which is essential for the therapeutic process.

During the session, we combine clinical hypnosis, somatic regulation, inner imagery, Polyvagal Theory, and symbolic processes tailored to your personal history and rhythm.

The intention is to support access to inner states where change can occur naturally—without force, without resistance, and with full respect for your boundaries.

This is a moment just for you—a safe space for your nervous system to slow down and for your mind to process your inner experiences.
